i’m back!

August 29, 2008

Sorry for the lapse – I told myself not to skip more than a couple of days between posts, and it’s been almost two weeks. I will blame it on the craziness at the library as we prepare for the re-opening next week. Today I had some excitement, my earrings from Tiger Burning Bright Jewellry were picked up at the post office and they’re beautiful – I can’t wait to wear them. Luckily, I just happened to have my camera with me, so I could photograph the package in our new workroom at the library, which has lots of light…

I plan on wearing them tomorrow – hopefully I’ll have someone photograph the earrings in situ.
Thanks Freya!

friends on flickr

August 8, 2008

I’m really enjoying exploring flickr - at first it was just a way to keep up with my friend Judy’s work, but it has become so much more. Not only can I post my photos (which I have been doing enthusiastically), but I recently discovered flickr Groups. You can join any group that interests you, which means I immediately started looking for jewelry groups, and I found loads! The newest group I joined was Artisan Jewelry on Etsy, which has a wondrous plethora of great jewelry designers. Some of the really cool designers I found on the group include Rhonda of Magnolia Designs, whose collection consists of delicate, airy designs created in wire and gemstones.

One of my other favorites from the group is Su of Quercus Silver, who sculpts sterling silver and resin into clean, streamlined designs.

Make sure you check out these artists, and all of the other great designers whose creations are available on etsy (and now you know where to shop when you need to buy me a present!)
