Since I don’t have anything jewelry-related to talk about, I decided to give a review of the film I saw today; Slumdog Millionaire. I have nothing but great things about it – it was awesome (as my friend’s 7 year old would say)! The story was great – based on the novel Q&A by Vikas Swarup, about a young man from the slums of Mumbai, who becomes the winner of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”. There is adventure, romance, comedy, police brutality and dancing – something for everyone. The acting was wonderful, from the Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, to the unknown actors who played the main characters as children. Dev Patel, who plays the older Jamal, was completely wonderful, and I look forward to seeing him again.
Can you tell I liked the movie?

Spent the evening (after thawing out from the snow) adding some new items to my etsy shop. I created a couple of new categories for listings, which has given me some ideas for new designs…

I feel like I’ve gotten quite a lot done from my list of goals posted earlier this week. Today I chose designs and photographed them for a possible slide show for the new website and I filled out and mailed 2 craft show applications. Looking at some of my groups on flickr today also has me adding something else to my list: working on coming up with a blueprint for my craft show setup – every time I do a show, I set up the display a little differently – I really need to come up with a setup that has maximum impact without taking up the entire booth space.

No post yesterday – I was revising the design draft for the new website. I really like it and hope it can be translated into html. Tonight’s project was working on etsy listings. I sorted out the designs I want to post, sorted them into categories and wrote up descriptions for the first 15 pairs. The next step is photographing the pieces so they can be listed. It’s too cold to keep typing, so I’ll say good night!

Sorry about the long delay – I did what I said I wasn’t going to and let my the blog lapse. I hope everyone had a very happy New Year and is feeling energized and inspired. I have been making jewelry, but I realized I neede to spend some time working on the business side of my jewelry, so here’s what I have so far:
a. Bought a new camera: I’ve needed a new one for a while, spent some time researching and then found it at Staples, on clearance! I went with a Canon SX100 IS, (which has been supplanted by the SX110 IS): 8 mp, 10X optical zoom. I love that it has a much larger viewfinder than my Nikon and the zoom is great!
b. Built a lightbox: I used the tutorial from a great photography blog and put it together in about 20 minutes.

c. Rework website: I think I’ve found the web designer I would like for the website. I originally made it myself and have been very lazy about updating it and now that I have a new logo and color scheme, the website is in for major re-working. I am working on a draft of the website now and think I have it pretty much worked out.
d. Work harder on etsy shop: my main goal is to have more of a presence on etsy, so I will be busy photographing (with my new camera) and posting pieces to
etsy.
Stayed tuned…
